OMB Review: This is by far one of the most entertaining films of the year. Instead of only focusing on one aspect of Freddie Mercury’s life, the story rocks its way through some of Queen’s greatest moments. Malek shines as the lead and is given a lot of back up by an incredible supporting cast. This film will rock you. B+
Very great movie I saw it a month ago I would recommend it to anyone who loves music and film probably in the top 20 possible top 10 greatest films ever made
Malik’s performance was great. I also liked the actor that portrayed Roger Taylor. A really great movie.
It was good overall, but they definitely took some creative liberties in terms of some things being less than wholely factual accurate. I also expected there to be more insight/snippets of information that I didn’t already know going into the movie. Furthermore I felt like some of the relationships in the movie weren’t explained too clearly, there was obvious tension between certain members of the band, but this wasn’t really explained why it was there/where it stemmed from, it just was kinda there and we were supposed to accept it at face value and little more else.
As I said, it was definitely good, I had a blast, but it fell short of being truely great, which is a shame, as Freddie Mercury and Queen will always be LEGENDS, as such I feel like they deserved greater than this film was able to deliver!
Always liked Queen. Loved this movie. Malik did a fine job of displaying the incredible vulnerability and weakness which surrounded a musical genius, and it made me fall in love with Freddie Mercury in a way only a mother could love a son; I wanted to reach into the film and protect him from others and from himself. The only other film I can think of with a similar theme which elicited a similar feeling was Amadeus.
